Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 1, 2026
This policy explains what information the Game Breaker desktop app and the Game Breaker website and server (together, “Game Breaker”, “we”, “us”) collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and how you can have it deleted. It covers the app for Windows and Linux, gamebreak.dev and steam.gamebreak.dev.
We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for advertising.
Information we collect
Information about your computer
When the app starts, and every so often while it runs, it checks in with our server to see whether your computer is activated. Each check-in sends:
- A Machine HWID: a 16-character code calculated from your computer’s hardware. It is a one-way fingerprint; the hardware details it is calculated from are not sent with it.
- The app version.
- Your computer’s manufacturer, model and product family (for example “Valve, Jupiter”), or its motherboard’s maker and model when those are left blank, used to tell a desktop PC from a handheld such as a Steam Deck, which sets the price of activation.
We keep, for each computer: the HWID, its activation status and tier (for example free trial or premium), the app version, the device model, when it was first and last seen, and the IP address and approximate location (city, region and country, as estimated by our hosting network, Cloudflare) of its latest check-in. The location helps us tell computers apart for support and notice an activation being used in many places.
If you start a free trial
- Hardware identifiers: the serial numbers of your motherboard and internal disks, your computer’s system UUID, and the factory addresses (MAC addresses) of its built-in network adapters. We store only a one-way SHA-256 hash of each, never the identifier itself. We use them only to make sure each computer gets one free trial.
- Your Google account: see “Google user data” below.
- The games you add during the trial (their Steam app IDs), to count them against the trial’s limit.
If you buy an activation
Payments are handled by our payment gateway. You pay on the gateway’s own page; card numbers, bank logins and wallet keys never reach Game Breaker. From the gateway we receive and keep: the payment ID, the amount and currency, the coin or payment method and network, the amount received, the payment’s status, and a link to its payment page — tied to your HWID so the right computer is activated. Cryptocurrency payments are recorded on public blockchains by nature; that is outside our control.
If you contact us
- Support requests: your messages and our replies, the contact detail you choose to give (for example a Discord name or email), your HWID, app version and tier.
- Activation requests: the optional contact detail you enter, with your HWID.
- Diagnostics reports (only when you press Send): a read-only summary of your Steam, patch and antivirus setup, your computer’s name, the app version, the note you add, and the IP address it was sent from.
- Fix requests: the game’s Steam app ID and name.
Technical information
Our server sees the IP address of each request. We use it in memory to limit abuse (for example, too many sign-in attempts or trial requests from one address). Beyond each computer’s latest check-in (above), we store it only with a diagnostics report or in security alerts about repeated failed admin sign-ins. Our hosting network (Cloudflare) also processes IP addresses to deliver and protect the site.
Information that stays on your computer
Your settings, your game list, caches, and — if you enter one — your Steam Web API key and the list of games your Steam account owns are stored only on your computer, in the app’s data folder. The owned-games list is fetched by the app directly from Valve with your own key. When the app looks up games, it contacts Steam and other game-data services directly; those requests carry the game IDs, never your HWID or Google account.
Google user data
Signing in with Google is required only to start a free trial. When you sign in, we request the openid and email scopes and receive:
- your Google account ID, and
- your email address and whether Google has verified it.
We use this information only to:
- make sure each Google account gets one free trial, and
- show the administrator which account started a trial, to handle support and prevent abuse.
We store your Google account ID only as a one-way SHA-256 hash, and your email address with your computer’s trial record. We do not access your contacts, files, Gmail, calendar or any other Google data, we do not keep Google access tokens after sign-in, and we do not use Google user data for advertising, for training AI models, or for any purpose other than the ones above. We do not sell or transfer it, except to the service providers listed below (the administrator’s notifications may include the email address), and when required by law.
Game Breaker’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
How we use information
- To activate Game Breaker on your computer and keep it activated, including after reinstalling the app.
- To run the free trial and prevent the same computer or Google account from starting more than one.
- To process payments and match them to the right computer, and to refund payments that couldn’t be applied.
- To answer support requests and investigate problems you report.
- To keep the service secure, including stopping abuse and blocking computers that break our Terms.
Who we share it with
We share information only with the providers that run parts of Game Breaker for us, and only what each needs:
| Provider | What it receives |
|---|---|
| Your sign-in, when you start a free trial. | |
| Our payment gateway | Your payment, and the HWID-based reference it is filed under. |
| Cloudflare | Network traffic to our website and server, including IP addresses. |
| Supabase | A backup copy of the activation list: HWID, tier, activation status, app version and when last seen. |
| Telegram | Notifications to the administrator about events such as new trials, payments and support requests. These can include your HWID, trial email address, contact detail, part of a support message, and payment amounts. |
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect Game Breaker and its users from fraud or abuse.
How long we keep it
- Computer and activation records are kept while the activation is in use, because a paid activation depends on them.
- Free-trial records (hashed hardware identifiers, hashed Google account ID, email) are kept so a trial can’t be repeated.
- Payment records are kept for accounting and refunds.
- Support requests and diagnostics reports are kept until they are resolved and deleted by the administrator, or until you ask us to delete them.
Your choices and rights
- You don’t have to start a free trial, contact support, or send a diagnostics report; none of them is needed to buy an activation.
- You can ask us to see, correct or delete your information by writing to us through Support in the app. We will delete everything that isn’t needed to keep a purchase working or to prevent trial abuse, and tell you what we kept and why.
- You can remove the app and its data folder from your computer at any time.
Security
Traffic between the app and our server is encrypted (HTTPS). Hardware identifiers and Google account IDs are stored only as one-way hashes. The admin console is protected by a password with lockouts after failed attempts, and our payment and sign-in secrets are kept on the server, never in the app.
Children
Game Breaker is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has used Game Breaker, contact us through Support and we will delete their information.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update it here and change the date at the top. Significant changes will also be announced in the app.
